How Does the Kohl’s Cash Offer Work?

For each $50 spent on your purchase you become eligible for $10 in Kohl’s Cash.  For instance, an order of $150 will give you $30 in bonus rewards. Also, if you happen to use a Kohl’s coupon on your purchase, such as 20% off, the amount spent will be reduced by your discount. Keep in mind Kohl’s allows you to receive up to a Maximum of $1,500 in Kohl’s Cash.

How Do I Earn Kohl’s Cash?

Kohl’s Cash is very easy to earn as you just have to make purchases in store or online. Your total will be based on how much money you spend before taxes and after discounts or coupons are applied. Kohl’s Cash can be earned on just about any purchase with some exclusions. This even includes orders where you buy products that might not be eligible for certain discounts.

Are There Any Items Excluded From Earning Kohl’s Cash?

Typically you can earn Kohl’s cash on any item purchased in the Kohl’s department store with some exceptions:

• You may not earn Kohl’s Cash on any Sephora products purchased at Kohl’s. You still, however, can earn Kohl’s rewards on these purchases if you are a Kohl’s Card holder.
• If you purchase a Gift Card you will not receive Kohl’s Cash. This is because the transaction is not considered a “purchase”. However, when you redeem the gift card to make a purchase, you will be eligible for Kohl’s Cash for any amount above the value of the gift card.
• Kohl’s Cares Cause merchandise purchases are eligible to receive Kohl’s Cash. However, you may not redeem Kohl’s Cash to purchase these items.
• Marketplace Merchandise purchases are not eligible for Kohl’s Cash.

Using Your Kohl’s Cash

The Kohl’s Cash that you will earn must be used within a specified time period. The redemption dates will be listed on your Kohl’s cash at checkout. Make sure to check on the specific reward date to see when they should be redeemed.

The cash should have a reward code that you can use for online purchases. It can also be brought into a store and scanned at checkout. Either option will not change how effective the cash is as it will work the same in either place.

Can You Use Kohl’s Cash Online?

Absolutely you can use Kohl’s cash online. However, you can only use the cash during certain “redemption” dates. There are usually four redemption periods throughout the month. Typically you can earn Kohl’s cash during their 30% off members credit event. Once it ends, you typically have around a week to redeem your cash. When redeeming online, simply go to checkout, click the “Apply Coupons” button, then click the “Enter Kohl’s Cash or Promo Code” button.

Can You Use Kohl’s Cash After it Expires?

Typically, you MAY NOT use your Kohl’s Cash after it expired. Some physical locations might allow you to use it past the expiration date but the rules will vary by each place. Some locations might not let you do this after a set amount of time or if the value is too high.

In this example, we are going to purchase $200 in Jewelry while redeeming $30 in Kohl’s Cash, Use a $10 off $200 Jewelry coupon, and a 20% off Friends and Family coupon. The order of operation of all discounts is Kohl’s Cash then dollar off discounts, then percentage off discounts:

$200 less $30 in Kohl’s Cash = $170
$170 less $10 off $200 coupon = $160
$160 X 20% off = $32
$160 – $32 = $128

Since your Kohl’s Cash earnings are before tax is applied, you would receive $10 for every $50 spent for a total of $20 in Kohl’s Cash in this example. Since Kohl’s Cash is not “prorated”, you will not receive any credit for the remaining $28. If you wanted to earn Cash on that amount, you would need to spend an additional $22 to receive $10 more in Kohl’s Cash.

Also, any returns that you make might influence the value of your cash. That is, any item you return can cause you to lose Kohl’s Cash if the return value is high enough that is falls under a certain dollar threshold.
